The open mike starts at 8:00 (with sign-up prior to that). Christian will come on between 8:40 and 8:50 and give us 20 minutes or so of work.
CHRISTIAN DOWNES has traveled the high and low places of the world, learning, writing, and teaching. His work serves to demonstrate interconnectedness and a resonance beyond the poem: as John Haines says, “at once contemporary and ancient,” and what Gary Snyder calls, “…model/and tool, craft of culture,/How we go on.”
Downes holds degrees in Writing and Spanish from Lee University, Universidad Mayor (Chile), and a Masters in Poetry from Seattle Pacific University. He received the Allegheny Review’s 2013 Poem of the Year (chosen by Sarah Arvio), and an Outstanding Author award from Nota Bene (2011). His work appears in DMQ Review, Town Creek Poetry, Sigma Tau Delta’s Rectangle, and various other print and online media.
